Taply overview

Taply is a simple sound file player. Although a lot of similar tools do exist for Mac OS X, I did not know of any which behaves exactly the way I want it to, so I wrote this application.

The main difference between Taply and other players lies in the fact that it consists of nothing more than a tiny floating window and that it will quit after having finished playing. This way, (at least for me) it's the perfect tool to scan quickly through a large number of audio files. Taply is localized in English, German, French, Italian and Swedish.

Works like a charm :-) A dark UI would be welcome.

The best. I was looking for a player as a tool for browsing as an editor sidekick/helper. Sometimes I'm working with protools editing a broadcast ad and I don't want to open iTunes to see and hear some files but I don't want to use the tiny organizer of Protools either. Certainly I don't want to pay $99 dollars for red Snapper either just for that! that's where Taply comes in handy! and it does a great job!

Support for the iTunNORM Tag would be nice. Also drag'n'drop directly form iTunes would be cool. So I could drop all tracks from an iTunes smart playlist onto Taply and quit iTunes to save resources while listening to music in background. But then hiding the window and media key support is needed.

Cog is great but stopped working on me. Tried Vox, Taply and Play for substitute. Vox and Taply had very high CPU usage in background when not running. In the case of Taply, 5.4% on a Macbook Pro 2.5GHz. Just too much background resources. Play is a bit ugly but uses .1% CPU in the background.

Since I "upgraded" to the latest version of quicktime, Taply won't play files encoded with the Apple Lossless Codec. Can this be fixed?
