If like me the recent iTunes update only left your eyes for crying, try this semi-satisfying solution:
- Quit iTunes
- Find the iWow.plugin in Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL and trash it (authentication ensue)
- Put it again at the exact same place
- Launch iTunes. Voilà
Here's the catch: you'll have to do it each time you quit iTunes, so make a shortcut or a script. Worked for me with iWow.plugin 3.2 from July 2011 — iTunes 12.5.3.17 — MacOS Sierra.

Been using iWow since 2011...latest version of iTunes (12.5.1.21) finally killed it : (
OS 10.9.5. Have Boom 2 but can't use it need 10.10 or later.
Any suggestions for a replacement?

The current version is v3.3.1. It STILL works on the current beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan! Be sure to do a clean install of the app/plug-in then register. Excellent.

Hasn't worked properly since downloading. Inconsistent sound levels, Sound that won't come out of the speakers I designate, sometimes no sound at all and it takes over my prefs so I can't change anything. Stay away!
