Updating my earlier comment. It has gotten much better since I last looked at (and purchased) it. Fork can now show uncommitted changes and tag annotations, two features that I most missed in the version I initially purchased. I am sticking to SourceTree because I feel it does a much better job of showing uncommitted changes: they are shown as a node in the standard commit history panel, and so can be compared to any other commit. But Fork is well worth checking out.

It's great but not free. It is $50 and well worth it. It's the git gui I use daily.

I bought a copy but find myself using SourceTree by preference. Fork is very good and worth a try, but I prefer Fork because: * SourceTree lets me compare the current uncommitted state to any prior commit. Fork cannot, nor can any other git client I have tried, including Tower and sublime merge. SourceTree does it superbly; the local changes are shown in history as the top node, rather than in a separate panel as Fork does. * I find the display more readable. The font Fork uses is small and there's no way to adjust it. * SourceTree can show the text of an annotated git tag (though it's a bit clumsy). Fork doesn't support it at all. Of course Fork has advantages as well. The interactive rebase support is better than SourceTree. The merge support may be better. I found Fork tech support unresponsive (i.e. no better than SourceTree), which is disappointing for a paid app. I sent several emails and never got a reply. Fork is promising and I intend to keep an eye on it, along with sublime merge.

Fork is *not* free. At least it isn't free anymore. On one of my Macs I got a friendly nag screen yesterday, asking(!) me to purchase Fork in order to fund further development of the application. I immediately checked on their website, and indeed - there is a price of 49.99$ listed, together with the subtitle 'free evaluation'. So at some point in time they obviously switched to a kind of shareware model - use is free within certain limits, but then they ask you to buy the software. Which is exactly what I did, mostly because I like the tool and have used it for a couple of years now, and I think it's a fair price for the value. While it's a pity that Fork isn't free anymore, I really appreciate that I now have a sensible option to support its development and contribute to Fork becoming better and staying in the market instead of becoming another tool I have to replace sooner or later. I hope some more users will follow suit.

My Tower (git app) license expired and the app literally stopped working. Being sick of paying annual fees I tried Fork and I won't be going back. Oh my. Easy to use, fast, intuitive. I can't fault Fork.
