eTunes overview

eTunes (i.e., easyTunes) allows even to those who are not professional musicians to create and play their own tunes. In fact it is enough to click the piano-keys and eTunes will take care to code your inputs for the right output.

Files created by eTunes can be converted into audio-files (MP3) to be played by other audio applications (ex. iTunes), or may be used as ringtones for cellphones supporting the RTTTL format.

Beside a Tutorial (cfr. Help Menu), the Archive (Archive Menu) contains a good variety of samples, from very easy to pretty elaborate tunes.

This is a nice little application, if a little cute. The interface could be worked out a bit more consistently (they might benefit from following more standard Apple app development approaches), but it's perfectly fine for playing around with ringtones. Any serious composition, however, is difficult to do with this tool, but I don't think that's what the authors had in mind. Think of it as a fun tool for maybe making a couple simple, custom ringtones, and you'll be happy. Expect more, and you'll probably be dissapointed.

The ability to create ring-tones from this would be much better if their was an instrument for the actual mobile phones beeps, not instruments. The interface is fairly sluggish. I'm guessing it was done in REALbasic? I have nothing against REALbasic, but in my experience it has never done metal windows too well. Maybe just stick to the standard aqua window. Just a suggestion. I don't think this is worth $7 or £3.70 it should be freeware. Is this your first program, or first public program?
