DocsFlow overview

DocsFlow unites the collaborative editing power of Google Docs to the layout power of InDesign.

DocsFlow lets you place online Google Docs documents as InDesign story contents, just like normal text files. More importantly, DocsFlow maintains a dynamic link so it can intelligently merge Google Docs document changes into the InDesign story contents on each link update, rather than just replacing the story. So you can format, layout, and make minor edits in InDesign, while you and others edit story content together in real time on Google Docs, without losing any work.

DocsFlow Pro is required to import Google spreadsheets and to use the export functions. More information is available on the developer's Web site.

What’s new in version 3.3.1

Version 3.3.1:
  • Fixes a problem where tables and cells could unexpectedly acquire a border during import.
  • Fixes link updating to not fail with a “AttributeError: ‘XML_ProcessingInstruction’ object has no attribute ‘dataList'” message when faced with certain types of conflicts.

Great alternative to using Incopy - this plugin has really changed my workflow; to actually match how I work. I use google drive as a hub; I have an embed plugin for wordpress and this plugin for Indesign - so it means that when revisions are made on a document, both wordpress and indesign stay updated with the same version. A real time saver. What I like about this is that Adobe Incopy is really about multi member team editing, whilst I can use this for teams & for multi platform synchronisation. $200 might seem a bit stiff, but compared to Incopy (per license) or even other publishing workflow solutions - this is reasonable.
