Capo overview

Capo lets you slow down your favorite songs so you can hear the notes and learn how they are played. With Capo, you can quickly tab out your songs atop a highly-detailed OpenCL-powered spectrogram display.

Features:
  • Detect, and enter chords
  • Pitch adjustment
  • Mark song sections
  • Loop at slower speeds
  • Export Capo-adjusted music
  • Basic effects available

The free trial allows 60 seconds of playback per session before noise is inserted into the song, plus access to all features, including the chords, slowing, our isolation engine, and more.

For $39.99 per year, Capo Pro grants access to:

  • Unlimited play time
  • Auto-detected chords for entire songs
  • All current features
  • All upcoming Pro features in development

What’s new in version 4.3.1

  • This update contains bug fixes and improvements based on user feedback and crash submissions.
Enhancements:
  • You can now replace chords with their enharmonic equivalent. For example, an Eb can now be replaced with a D#. Please note: Your changes may not apply when a project is transposed to another key. See the blog for a technical explanation of the issue.
  • When in the CHORDS song view, the Tuning popup now lists note names alongside each tuning name while editing your chord display preferences. For example, you'll now see entries like "Standard (EADGBE)".
Bug Fixes:
  • Capo no longer allows you to make invalid adjustments to the song's key using keyboard shortcuts.
  • We resolved a handful of reported crashes that were triggered by incorrect logic that led to excessive layout in the PRACTICE song view.

"capo" ??? please change this ugly name to something more related to music. Examples: Verdi, Mozart, Stradivarius, Nabucco, Figaro...

I am tired of applications saying they are free when they are not. You need to make an In-App-Purchase. Please Macupdate, stop this and start specifying which applications are really free, which ones have an In-App-Purchase and which ones are a subscription (and the renewal period).

I'm still using Transcribe! instead of Capo, mainly because I'm used to it, but any time I'm trying Capo I discover something new and I'm more and more impressed! Today I've discovered the "isolation" part on the right pane: it allows you to isolate an instrument to focus on it and it's really amazing. I've been working on Ray Charles' What'd I Say where the instruments are panned quite heavily, so you can nearly get only the piano and cancel the drums! It surely will give the best results with old recordings from the sixties with a lot of separation. In modern pop recordings where a lot of things are mixed dead center, it's harder but you can have good results using this feature to make a karaoké file instead, etc. The only thing that I prefer in Transcribe! is that you can click anywhere in the waveform to place the cursor: in Capo, you have to click on the ruler instead. Also, you can create regions (which is an interesting feature), but the cursor won't move automatically to the start of the region you've just created, which would be an interesting option.

I'm not sure this app is very effective. Have downloaded and tried it for several times. The idea of slowing down the song is good but in practice it become boring process. Much simpler and quicker way is to see the song notes in the Internet. Just my opinion.

I'm curious if any of you Capo Users might have some Information for me. I'm looking for a Client/App to Write (basically) Lead Sheets. I'd love to be able to Type-in Lyrics and be able to post Chord Symbols above the Lyrics... and a Lead/Melody Line like in a Fake Book. Any ideas?
