How to get rid of acne overnight

13 Way to Reduce and Get Rid of Acne

Acne is a major problem all over the world. Almost everyone gets it too! When you think of someone who has pimples or zits, you generally think of a teenage in high school. During puberty, the hormones controlling the oils and such on your face and the rest of your body are going crazy, and acne can create a major problem if not taken care of properly. We will discuss 13 proven and effective methods to reduce the swelling and redness on your face caused by acne.

13 Cures to Acne

A clean face is a must to get rid of acne. Dirt, oil, and other impurities can gather on your face and get inside the pores on your skin and cause irritations, or worse, a pimple! Here we will discuss a few simple ways you can keep your face clean and thus reducing the amount of pimples and zits on it.

  1. Take showers

Probably the simplest step you can take is to take showers. Simply just take a short 5-10 minute shower to wash off the dirt and oil on your body. Use warm water to open up your pores and allow the dirt to get out. However, there is research suggesting that cold showers may have better long term acne and health benefits. You should be taking up to 3 showers a day to remove grime.

Taking too many showers a day can dry out your skin and mess with the natural oils your body creates. I suggest one in the morning, one before you go to sleep, and one if you participate in vigorous exercise. This adds up to about a shower every 8 hours, and it works for most people at reducing acne.

  1. Use a towel on pillow

Here’s a simple tip that works wonders. It’s very easy to do and only takes 30 seconds. Place a towel over your pillow. Particles and oils from your face collect on your pillow, and placing a towel on it will create a barrier. If you don’t want to wash towels, you can get 4 nights from a pillowcase. You can flip the pillow over and you can also flip it inside out. Acne can be drastically reduced by this easy method.

  1. Don’t touch your face

Never touch your face. This is a pimple waiting to happen. See, when you touch your face, all of the dirt and nasty stuff that you have touched(even if you can’t see it) gets transferred from your fingers to your face and will produce a nasty, painful pimple. You probably touch your face at least 10 times an hour without noticing it. Just realize that you are touching it and practice never touching your face and eventually it will become natural.

  1. Avoid greasy or lactose food

Ahh, diet. This is extremely important in reducing your zits. The food you eat is an exponentially large factor in your skin. Refrain from eating that greasy pizza that taste so good or your face will look like pepperonis. The lactose in milk causes acne is almost everyone. Removing lactose from your diet will also make you feel healthier and more alert.

Lactose intolerance is actually an evolutionary trait: we did not normally have the ability to digest milk. Through years of drinking it though, we have gained a tolerance. Not an immunity, but a tolerance. Getting rid of milk, or at least reducing lactose in your diet will drastically clear up your face!

  1. Aspirin

You may be thinking, “Aspirin? How will this help?” A very strange, yet effective cure for whiteheads is aspirin. Put one aspirin tablet in a spoon and use another spoon to crush it up. After you have a fine powder of aspirin dust, mix it in with some water in a ratio of 1:3. It should be a semi-thick paste that you will apply to your acne and zits. Use a cotton ball to apply to ensure there is no more bacteria added to your face. After about 15 minutes, remove the paste with a wet warm wash cloth. This will reduce the redness and swelling of a pimple

  1. Go swimming (chlorine or sea water)

This is a fun one. Almost everybody loves swimming. Little did you know that swimming can actually get rid of acne fast, almost overnight. The pool that you swim in contains a small amount of chlorine, which can dry out your face and make it feel smooth. Along with drying it out, it will also clean your face and remove blemishes. Swimming in the ocean is great too! The salt from the water is very natural and has the ability to really clean your face. Even in lakes and ponds, the water has bacteria that is beneficial to the bacteria on your body. There is research that supports swimming once a week can help get rid of acne scars.

  1. Toothpaste

When you take a small dab of toothpaste and apply it to that already painful zit, you may feel a lot of pain. Pimples are made of bacteria, and the chemicals in the toothpaste is actually killing the bacteria. Of course they are going to fight back and cause some pain, but toothpaste can kill them. Make sure you don’t use the gel kind. Just apply a small amount of toothpaste on your blemish before you go to bed and when you wake up take a shower and the swelling should go down.

  1. Honey

Honey has an extremely large amount of health benefits. We will discuss how to use honey get rid of acne. The first trick is to take some natural, local honey and put it on your finger. Apply to your face, or back, and use a cotton ball to wipe the rest of it up. The honey will soak into your face and improve the quality of the cells fighting the infection. Apply every 30 minutes until your face is squeaky clean.

  1. Steam

We have already mentioned this is a previous step, but it deserves its own number. Steam will open your pores and help clean them out. Being around steam will not only get rid of zits, but it also has many other health benefits. Your breathing will improve as your airways open up. Your skin will be healthier. I recommend taking a cold shower in the morning (as this is very beneficial) and taking a warm, steamy shower before you go to sleep.

  1. Don’t pop them

As hard as it may be, don’t pop pimples, whiteheads or blackheads with your fingers. This will only spread the bacteria in them and cause more pimples to pop up. Instead, purchase a whitehead popper. They work pretty well and are very cheap.

When you use your fingernails to pop zits, you might damage the skin cells around the area, causing scars and your face to bleed. If there is other bacteria, possibly infectious, in your fingernails and it gets inside the skin on your face then you could develop more serious problems than acne.

Some people find it extremely satisfying popping their whiteheads and seeing the gross pus that comes out, almost making a game of squirting their acne juices all over the mirror. This is nasty and terrible for your skin health and will only spread acne. Don’t do it anymore.

  1. Salicyclic acid

This hard-to-pronouce acid is commonly used to reduce acne in teens. It is harvested from the bark of a willow tree and contains exfoliating chemicals. Generally sold in pump bottles with tiny massaging beads, salicyclic acid is a great consumer compound for cleaning your face. I generally use Salicyclic acid in the morning, as it hydrates my face and keeps it smooth all day.

  1. Benzoyl Peroxide

About 89% of teens will develop some type of acne in their lifetime. Benzoyl Peroxide is a substance that is used to reduce acne in teens. Ranging from 3% to 10%, as the solution density increases, the more powerful this treatment will work. Generally used for moderate acne, sometimes this gel will burn when applied to sensitive faces and isn’t always recommended for everyone. Some professional treatment options prescribed by dermatologists will actually contain this compound.

Benzoyl Peroxide is most effective for me during a warm shower right before I go to sleep. It keeps my face dry while sleeping and when I wake up my face feels smooth and refreshed.

  1. Make acne less red

You can reduce swelling and the redness of a pimple or zit by using a few cheap creams. There are also a few herbal remedies you can try to clear up a red swollen pimple.

Witch hazel works wonders for a simple short term solution, it will constrict the blood vessels and thus reducing the swelling. Ice cubes will also work for short term, reducing the amount of blood on the spot. Ibuprofen will reduce swelling all over your body and may help the area of your acne.

But let’s not talk about short term, because you want to get rid of the swelling for good. Hydrocortisone and cortisol creams work wonders at getting rid of acne and the embarrassing swelling associated with it. Just apply the cream directly onto the spot and let it dry for a few minutes. Sometimes the swelling is reduced instantly, but patience and good hygiene habits goes a long way.

Moisturize your face often to keep the skin on your face healthy and prevent future pimples from popping up. Now you have a great list of techniques to get rid of acne and some of them will provide relief instantly and overnight! Just remember to keep up with your skin hygiene or the terrible acne might come back. If you have a serious acne problem causing trouble in your daily life, you may want to see a dermatologist about other extensive treatments.
